Galleryshow1

Would you like to be represented by Xanadu Gallery and receive one-on-one coaching to help you optimize your art business?

Because of my extensive outreach into the artist community, I have a constant stream of artists seeking representation in my Scottsdale gallery. Though I have a great gallery space in a major art market, I’m only able to offer representation to a small number of artists each year.

In September, I will select one artist for representation and coaching. Representation includes display in our Scottsdale gallery, one-on-one coaching, and a $3,500 stipend.

In our coaching sessions, I’ll help you (if you are selected) set goals and implement strategies to achieve them. I’ll evaluate your work for quality and marketability. I’ll help you craft your artist’s statement and biography, and much more. Most importantly, we’ll be working toward a one-person show for you at Xanadu Gallery.

There is a one-time $39 registration to apply, but beyond that there are no additional costs for this opportunity (see details below).

Everyone who applies wins!

So how does this help artists who apply, but aren’t selected for representation? Simple: all of the coaching and planning sessions will be broadcast live over the internet so that everyone who applied can watch the process as I take the artist through the representation, promotion and show preparation process. Artists who are listening in on the coaching sessions can follow along, ask questions and apply what they learn to their own work and career.

This will be a transformative experience for the selected artist, and for all artists who listen in on the consultation sessions. Everyone who participates will benefit from the real-world experience we gain as we work together to take you from “Starving” to Successful.

How the Representation and Mentorship Program Works

If selected, you will be featured during Xanadu Gallery’s 2015-16 season.

Representation at Xanadu Gallery will include:

  • A display of your work on display throughout the season
  • Xanadu will market your work to our collectors extensively through the season, producing a catalog of your work, including you in our email campaigns and through our social media
  • A reception at the gallery during the spring of 2016, our high season
  • A $3500 stipend, which you may use for materials, travel, studios expenses or any other art/business related expenses. The stipend will be paid at $500/month from September 2015-March 2016

The Mentorship will also include guidance from Jason Horejs, Owner, Xanadu Gallery. In online video sessions, Jason will help you prepare to show your work at Xanadu. Jason will help you optimize your art and your art business. Sessions will include:

Who is Eligible

This program is open to all visual artists anywhere in the world who meet the following criteria:

Artforms: Painting (any media), Sculpture (any media), Fine Art Photography, Digital Art, Collage, Fiber Art, Glass Art, Kinetic Art, Fine Art Jewelry,.

Artforms not currently eligible:  Installation Art, Conceptual Art and Video Art.

Genre: Xanadu Gallery represents a wide range of work in a variety of styles. We will consider a broad range of genre: landscape, figurative, floral, abstract, animal, contemporary western, pop, botanical, cityscape, folk, found art, realism, and marine.

Experience: No gallery showing or prior sales experience is required, however, it will be helpful if you have experience producing artwork. The selected artist will produce 12-18 pieces for display in the gallery and for the gallery show.

Availability: The selected artist will need to be available for online consultations approximately every two weeks and should have available time to devote to creating and marketing artwork. We understand that many artists are forced to juggle multiple jobs and family life in order to make ends meet, and we will customize the online sessions to meet your scheduling needs. At a minimum, you should have at least 10 hours weekly that you can devote to your art during the program.

Technology: The sessions with Jason will be held in real-time, online. You should have a computer with a reliable internet connection (preferably high-speed). Because much of the consultation will be done virtually, it will be necessary for you to send images of your artwork via email. You should have a digital camera and the know-how to attach and email an image. If you don’t have this ability, you’ll need to find someone willing to help you.

Age: This program is open to artists from ages 18-110. At this time, we’re not seeking to cultivate child prodigies. If you are over 110, email us, we may issue a waiver!

Ability to Travel: Should you be selected for representation, you will want to attend the show in person and need to be willing and able to travel to Scottsdale, Arizona, where Xanadu Gallery is located. This is especially important for any international artists who wish to apply for the program – it is critical that you have the ability to travel to the gallery for the opening. You may use the program stipend to offset your travel costs.

Application and Selection Process

The application process is simple. To register and apply, click on the apply button below and follow the instructions. You will first process your one-time registration of $39, then answer a brief series of questions and upload 3 images of your artwork.

The selection process will occur in three rounds. We will apprise you of your acceptance at each round. The first two rounds will be conducted through online surveys where you will answer a brief series of questions and upload images of your work. The third round will be conducted through phone interviews.

The application process opens Thursday, June 18th, and ends on Wednesday, August 12th, 2015, at 8:00 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time.

The first round of selection will be completed on Monday, August 24th. If you have been selected to move to the second round of review, you will be notified during the week of August 24th and provided the link to complete the second round of the application process.

The second round of selection will be completed by September 1st. If you have advanced to the third round, we will notify you via email and will schedule a time for a telephone interview.

The final selection will be announced on September 15th, 2015.
