What Questions Would you Like to Have Answered About Your Art During a Review Session? | How to sell work, get gallery representation, and show a consistent style that will be saleable.
I have increased my production speed but should I go looser or smaller which is okay with me, to produce more work. I am focused on promoting myself now on Instagram and Facebook, and have a webpage, but haven’t begun to sell, other than randomly while still working full time. That only changed 6 months ago. What should be my logical next steps to get there and am I too old at 65? Even though I have won awards, been accepted in to juried shows, produced shows for multiple artists, and even had a solo show locally, should I enter national contests of OPA and PSA or others to build broader credibility? |

What Questions Would you Like to Have Answered About Your Art During a Review Session? | For most of my career I have been a figure painter focused on music, dance, and expressive figures. These works are a new direction for me. They have come out of my study of paleolithic cave art and imagining the experience of early homo sapiens in Europe. However, I want to know if this series works without the viewer knowing anything about my inspiration for creating it. Are these works interesting on their own? |

What Questions Would you Like to Have Answered About Your Art During a Review Session? | I would like to know about my pricing – too high, too low?
I would like to know if watercolor paintings will sell in galleries? How do I find the galleries? Internet? How do you ship framed paintings out of state? Seems so expensive to ship a number of framed paintings. In galleries before, they will hang one or two to show and but then want several to put in behind the scenes in storage. Anything I could do about this? I understand gallery view but seems unfair to have paintings where no one sees them. Plexiglass vs glass in framing for galleries? |

What Questions Would you Like to Have Answered About Your Art During a Review Session? | My main questions is about finding my audience. I have no clue who they might be for my couples work. The architectural pieces are easier – interior designers, architects, builders, etc would seem obvious, but I’m really stuck on the couples series – newlyweds? love addicts? Sargent Peppers Lonely Hearts Club?
I’m about ready to embark on a gallery hunting trip. I have a list of just over 100 galleries in Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio and Austin. All within a 3 hour road trip. My question is, should I send an email first and then an in-person visit or just one or the other? Also, if I get a response from the email that they aren’t looking for new artists, should I do an in-parson visit anyway? |

What Questions Would you Like to Have Answered About Your Art During a Review Session? | Your strategy thoughts & advice: I’m attempting multiple paths, learn to paint again in a new environment-coastal, create a body of work, test the waters with national competitions i.e. OPA, NOAPS etc, ( lots of humbling declines but a couple of encouraging hits)come up to speed enough market wise/social media to be credible, work on fleshing out my new web site, this is a pretty gallery sparse area and at some point I need to work on gallery exposure somewhere . As I’m writing this todo list allow me to emphasize I’m having fun and really enjoying challenges (most of the time). And remind myself I’m the new kid in a lot of this. |

“My big question is pricing? I follow the formula of multiplying the ht by the width times 2. I had to lower my prices to fit the market of a Coop Gallery and a restaurant I was showing in and Etsy. Is it consistent enough? Is it interesting? Is it polished enough? Does it provide a sense of place? How is the presentation? Note when framing (as opposed to gallery wrapped unframed as shown) I use D rings, and often install backer board at least and a dust cover at most. I no longer use adhesive items on the canvas; that now goes on stretcher bars or on the back of panels. No Sharpie on the back of canvas.

What type(s) of gallery would be best for me to approach about working together?
Does it present as a consistent and coherent body of work?
Is the framing too “formal?” Does it inhibit engagement with the images?
Should I be exploring other approaches to make the work more “one of a kind” such as much smaller edition sizes (vs my current 15 or 25, regardless of size) or more distinctive framing/presentation?

Connie would like feedback on the following:
“I am looking at value contrast and feel that I don’t have enough in the piece called, ‘Between Here to There’. I will be painting in a larger format, 24 x 24 with a 2 in depth soon. Do the depth of these, 7/8 In, create the feeling of less in worth? I noticed that many “high end” pieces in fine art galleries have a 2 Inch depth or more. I have some of those paneled boards ordered, but had these done, or almost done. What do you think in terms of depth of the cradled board? The Piece called ‘The Sound of Wind’ is not something I usually do, it is very subdued in color palette, although I think it conveys the feeling I wanted, I am not sure about the colors. Again, tempted to add more value contrast.”
