Welcome to Xanadu Gallery and Art Business Academy’s Online Critique Group.
In each Critique Group meeting, we will examine a member artist’s artwork. We will review the quality and consistency of the work, talk about strengths and weaknesses in the work itself, and discuss the pricing and marketability of the submitted artwork. This is an opportunity for the featured artist to get feedback on his/her art and art career, and for everyone participating to gain insights into what makes great art.
Participation in the group is completely free, and you can either join our meetings live from your computer or mobile device during the broadcast, or watch the recording after the broadcast is completed. Just return to this page at broadcast start time to join live, or come back to this page anytime and scroll down to view archived recordings of past sessions.

Featured Artist August 12: Maria Poroy
Request for Feedback from the Artist
I have 3 main bodies of work: abstract, buildings/landscapes and hearts. They seem to mostly have different followers (except I just shipped a mixture to one collector in NC who seems to focus on the color). I am thinking about taking those images that generate fewer click on my site down and wonder if that makes sense.
Featured Artist August 5th: Michael Rieger, Denver, CO
Requests for Feedback from the Artist
“Impression of the art?
Size and scale, should I be working bigger?
Do you see a story?”
Featured Artist July 29: Maryann Dellarocco
Requested Feedback from the Artist:
“Is the work ready for a gallery? Which markets do you see the work in? What could I improve? should I try to create larger pieces (these take a close to a month to create but I am willing to go bigger)?”
Featured Artist July 22: Diane Lunow
Questions Diane would like to discuss during the critique:
“Suggest gallery type.
Are colors good?
Are the priced to sell?”
July 15 Session: Ask me Anything!
Featured Artist July 8: Elizabeth Fontaine-Barr
Artist’s Website: https://www.fontainegallery.com/
Requested feedback from the Artist:
“The compliment that I hear the most is, “I love your colors” which I very much appreciate. I am all about creating beauty but should there be more to it? Should my titles be a little more thought provoking or mysterious? Also, do you find consistency beyond my palette? ”
Featured Artist July 1: Carol Bivins
June 24 Featured Artist: Lori Reed
Requested feedback from the featured artist:
Is my pricing too low?
Should I abstract the image more?
I’ve worked as big as 24″x36″ but tend to work in 9×12, 12×12, 10×20. What are your thoughts on size?

What is the most important thing I need to improve/change in this painting?”

Featured Artist May 6: Connie Rodriguez
Connie would like feedback on the following:
“I am looking at value contrast and feel that I don’t have enough in the piece called, ‘Between Here to There’. I will be painting in a larger format, 24 x 24 with a 2 in depth soon. Do the depth of these, 7/8 In, create the feeling of less in worth? I noticed that many “high end” pieces in fine art galleries have a 2 Inch depth or more. I have some of those paneled boards ordered, but had these done, or almost done. What do you think in terms of depth of the cradled board? The Piece called ‘The Sound of Wind’ is not something I usually do, it is very subdued in color palette, although I think it conveys the feeling I wanted, I am not sure about the colors. Again, tempted to add more value contrast.”
